In-Classroom Support
Class and Grade Level Supply Funds: We give each teacher and each grade level additional funds to purchase classroom materials - it averages to about $500 per classroom per year.
Positions: The PTA funds ten positions including STEAM Lab Teacher, Garden Lab Teacher, Reading Lab Teacher and Assistant, Computer Lab Assistant, Positive Behavior Intervention Specialist, Counselor, and three in-classroom teaching assistants.
Curriculum: We fund the iReady program for the entire school, along with other program curriculum from our annual Fun Run and the Soul Shoppe program.
Community Events
Carnoween: A fun, PHE tradition for over 50 years! Carnoween, PHE’s annual Halloween carnival, takes place on a Saturday before Halloween, features games, food, musical entertainment, haunted house, and a costume parade. A fundraiser with the emphasis on fun!
Book Fair: Held every spring the book fair gives families a chance to build their at-home and classroom libraries with affordable book options.
Welcome Picnic: Held the Saturday before school starts it’s a great way to reconnect with the Dino community and stock up on your PHE spirit wear before school starts.
Fall Fun Run: This two week school-wide event includes fun daily positive lessons while encouraging students to garner pledges from their family and friends for our annual Fun Run.
Family Nights: These events are a great opportunity for a fun–filled night with family and friends. It might be Movie Night, Bingo or the Multicultural Potluck. All are a chance for PHE families to come together, relax and have fun.
Make a Difference Day: Parents, students, staff volunteers and community members work on school beautification projects every September. Past projects have included painting, murals, and a variety of landscape and playground improvements.
Helping Hands Food Drive: PTA coordinates a collection of food and cash donations (which are used to purchase food). Collected items are boxed and distributed to families in need within the PHE community. Helping Hands takes place in early December.
Bookworm Pajama Party: Join in the fun of an evening devoted to reading and storytelling, held in the cozy PHE library. Children are encouraged to wear their pajamas, and slippers, too!
Spring Gala and Auction: Each spring, PTA holds it's biggest fundraiser of the year at the Spring Gala. This event is a fun evening of dinner, dancing and fundraising. Both silent and live auctions offer something for everyone and help raise valuable money to continue funding the resources and programs for all students at PHE. Everyone can support the gala during the online auction the week after the gala, featuring classroom experiences and more.
Student Programs
Dino Art Lab (DART): Parent volunteers teach a hands-on arts lesson in each classroom and support the kids in creating artwork. The lesson plans, materials, and coordination of this program are supported by the PTA.
Afterschool Enrichment: The PTA coordinates after school extracurricular classes for PHE students. Classes are offered in two sessions each year and are fun, interesting, reasonably priced, and suit a variety of interests. The classes are taught by experienced, professional instructors who are experts in their fields and provide truly fun learning to enrich the whole school day. All instructors have gone through safety procedures such as fingerprinting and background checks. Students must pre–register directly with the vendor. Click here to head over to the enrichment page and learn about the current offerings!
Student Store: PHE PTA provide a monthly student store, where students can spend their earned Dino Dollars and Bronto Bucks on fun items like pizza with the Principal, joining morning announcements, and fun classroom supplies.
Science Fair: Our annual STEM Fair features an evening of exciting and educational science demonstrations brought to us by local teachers, science professionals and community health, science and wildlife organizations. The students’ own projects are also displayed that night. STEM Fair generally takes place in January with the District Fair in February.
Assemblies: Throughout the year we provide interactive, educational and fun assemblies for the entire school, including the social - emotional Soul Shoppe program and the popular Opera a la Carte.
Spirit Wear: The PTA organizes and sells PHE gear for students and families. Every Friday students are encouraged to show their PHE spirit with PHE colors (blue and orange) or spirit wear gear. Spirit wear is available to purchase at many school events (including the Welcome Picnic, All In One Day and Carnoween) or anytime online here. PTA also provides every student a free spirit wear shirt during the Fun Run.
